The National Junior College Athletic Association has recognized the Surry Community College softball team as a National Academic Team of the Year. The Lady Knights finished the 2010 season with a 3.01 grade point average.

Great times for Elkin’s summer swim team

Elkin’s summer swim team is fast and getting faster. Wet Lightning swimmers collectively posted more than 100 personal best times en route to a Tuesday night meet win over the Dobson Dolphins. Fifty-eight swimmers in all set new personal records, coach Emily Morrison said.

Surry Community College baseball player Michael Radford hit a home run in the classroom during his two years at the school. The National Junior College Athletic Association has named Radford an Academic All-American. Radford posting an overall grade point average of 3.63.
