The Region X softball tournament will be hosted by Surry Community College at Fisher River Park in Dobson on Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5. The tournament will consist of five North Carolina community colleges.
“We are extremely excited to be hosting this year’s Region X softball tournament,” stated Surry athletic director, Mark Tucker. “This tournament is not only a great showcase for our college, but also our area. Last year, our athletic programs had a local economic impact of over 1.1 million dollars. Hopefully, with this tournament and after hosting the Region X volleyball and golf tournaments this past fall, that amount will increase.”
Although seeding for the tournament has not been determined due to several remaining regular season conference games, a tournament schedule has been released. The double elimination tournament will begin on Friday, May 4 at 10 a.m. and be played on both Miller Field and Field Three at Fisher River Park
The championship game is scheduled for Saturday at noon. An All-Tournament team will also be selected by coaches following the tournament.
“This will be a great opportunity to see some exciting college softball,” added Tucker. “These teams will feature some great players, and we certainly anticipate some outstanding games. We certainly want to make this a memorable experience for all the participating players, coaches, and fans.”
Admission for the tournament is $7 per day for adults (12 years and over) and free for children under 12 years old. Tournament admission is set by Region X.
