First-round games in the 1A and 2A tournaments are slated to be played on Wednesday at 7 p.m. unless individual schools make other arrangements. Below is the list of first-round match-ups involving teams from the Mountain Valley 1A/2A and Northwest 1A/2A conferences:

Class 1A
South Stokes (13-5-1) at West Wilkes (9-8-1)
North Rowan (10-8-2) at Bishop McGuinness (11-3-1)
Gray Stone Day (14-2) at Elkin (7-11-1)

Class 2A
Ashe County (14-4-3) at Newton-Conover (14-2-4)
Surry Central (16-7-0) at Trinity (16-5-3)
Forbush (15-5-1) at Randleman (17-2-3)
TW Andrews (5-12-0) at Wilkes Central (17-2-1)
West Caldwell (7-9-3) at West Stokes (17-2-2)

Forbush and Randleman have tentatively set their game for Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The 2A playoff bracket is drawn up in such a way that that the MVAC and Northwest champion will play each other in round two if both advance past their openers. That would mean Wilkes Central (ranked 13th in the state for Class 2A) will travel to West Stokes (ranked eighth) for a second-round showdown this weekend.
