West Wilkes baseball downs South Stokes, 5-2

West Wilkes baseball team only managed five hits but got RBIs from five different players in a 5-2 second-round state playoff victory over South Stokes on Wednesday in Millers Creek.
Shut out for six innings despite outhitting West Wilkes 9-5, the Sauras cut the lead to 5-2 in the seventh on a two-run homer from Josh Bray. Will Shepherd got the win for the Blackhawks. Ryan Smith took the loss for the Sauras.
West Wilkes (16-10) will play at home Friday night in the third round, hosting East Montgomery, the No. 4 seed out of the Yadkin Valley Conference. East Montgomery (16-11) upset East Surry 5-2 on Tuesday, knocking out the Northwest’s top 1A team from the playoffs.
