Courtney Groce officially won the starting pitcher’s job at Starmount High School after the first practice of her freshman season back in 2009. But Rams coach Heather Courts knew well before then that Groce had the potential to be her team’s ace.
Amber Wooten thought for awhile that her competitive volleyball career was going to end after her final game with the Starmount Rams last fall. A trio of basketball guards from the Yadkin Valley has been invited to play in this summer’s N.C. East-West All-Star game in Greensboro.
