The fourth-annual Risings Stars Starmount Basketball Camp will be held July 18-21. Sessions will run from 9 a.m. until noon each day at Starmount Middle School. Participants will receive daily instruction from coaches and players on fundamentals of the game.
Golf tournament will benefit Starmount Middle football

A golf tournament to benefit Starmount Middle School’s football program will be held Saturday, April 21 at Silo Run. The format is four-person captain’s choice. The cost is $200 per team. Prizes will be available for the top finishers — $400 for first place and $200 for second place. Additional contests include longest drive and closest to the pin.

The Central Wilkes Middle School 7th-Grade girls basketball team won the county tournament earlier this winter. The team finished with an 11-3 record for the season.

Central Wilkes Middle School’s eighth-grade girls basketball team finished the season as co-champions in the Brushy Mountain Athletic Association Conference and as champions in the Wilkes County Middle School Tournament. The team compiled a record of 15-1 this season. Over its two-year middle school career, Central Wilkes has compiled a record of 27-2.
Forbush Middle hoops finishes unbeaten

Forbush Middle School’s 7th-grade girls basketball team finished undefeated this season. The Lady Falcons went 12-0, outscoring their opponents 566-191. Forbush averaged a whopping 47 points per game, with every player getting into the scorebook at some point during the season. The Falcons’ foes averaged just 16 points per game.

North Wilkes has advanced to the Sertoma Super Bowl in the middle school (Midgets) division. The Jaquars earned their berth by beating East Wilkes 12-6 in the 1A division playoffs on Saturday.

Forbush Middle School’s volleyball teams completed a season sweep of
Starmount Middle on Monday. The Falcons’ seventh- and eighth-grade teams both won 2-0. The first game for the eighth grade team was a nail bitter with Forbush pulling out the victory, 25-23. Forbush went on to win second game 25-20.
