Congratulations to Benjamin Combs, gage vestal10 and Frank Miller. That trio finished 1-2-3 in our second annual Bracket Mania contest, picking up prize money for their efforts. Combs, a student-athlete at Starmount High School, had already wrapped up the top prize of $100 before the Kentucky-Kansas game even tipped off Monday night.
Kentucky and Kansas haven’t played for the national championship yet, but we already have a winner in our Bracket Mania contest.
While many of our NCAA brackets have been busted since the first weekend of the tournament, a number of businesses sponsoring our Bracket Mania contest have reason to pay close attention to the Final Four this weekend.
The NCAA men’s basketball tournament is down to four teams – Kentucky, Kansas, Louisville and Ohio State. Our second-annual Bracket Mania contest here at YadkinValleySports.com is down to the Super Seven.
We’ve lost our first No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament (Michigan State), and we’ve also seen our field of potential Bracket Mania winners narrowed even further. Coming out of Thursday night’s games, there are now 94 of our 411 pickers who are still in the running for a top three finish.
In a matter of a few days, the NCAA men’s basketball tournament field of 68 has been reduced to 16 teams. In that same span, our Bracket Mania contest field has been reduced from 411 players down to 217. Well, everyone is still playing our contest, but only 217 can mathematically finish in the top three at this point.
Another day, another leader for our Bracket Mania contest.Emily Chipman takes over our contest lead after Saturday’s action in the NCAA Tournament. Chipman was correct on all eight games played Saturday and had 25 of 32 picks correct during the Thursday-Friday rounds.
The first day of the NCAA Tournament was pretty mundane overall. Not a lot of drama, and only two higher seeds advanced past the favorites. Day two was madness indeed.
Day one of the NCAA Tournament is in the books, so how is your bracket holding up?
For Bracket Mania contest player Max Wagoner, things couldn’t be better. After day one, Wagoner’s bracket is still perfect – 16 games, 16 correct picks. Wagoner nailed VCU’s win over Wichita State, Colorado’s victory over favored UNLV and the 14 higher seeds who advanced. Congrats to Max.
