Ashe County earns 2-1 road win at Starmount

Ashe County kept its conference record unblemished in a 2-1 win at Starmount on Wednesday. The Huskies (6-2-0 overall, 4-0-0 in the Mountain Valley) scored late in the first half when Frank Ledezma converted a pass from Andrew Lopp and added its other goal midway through the second half off the foot of Honor Rongnstad.

Mountain Valley all-conference basketball teams

The Mountain Valley 1A/2A has announced its all-conference basketball teams. Forbush senior Michael Scott and Starmount senior Kelli Bonner were voted MVAC players of the year. Starmount boys coach Jeffery Hague and Ashe County girls coach Laura Foster earned coach of the year status.

Forbush High’s soccer team needs just one more win to complete a perfect conference season. The Falcons beat Ashe County 3-0 on Tuesday night to improve to 15-0 in the Mountain Valley 1A/2A standings.
