The Wilkes Wildfire Baseball 9u captured the USSSA Beast of the East championship in Greensboro on April 21 and the USSSA Carolina Classic Championship in Kernersville on April 29.
Registration for the first season of Elkin Mighty Mites football and cheerleading will be held Monday, May 21 from 6-8 p.m. in the gym at the Elkin Recreation Center. The football and cheerleading program is for rising first- and second-graders.
The first Heal The Hurt Football Combine will be held Saturday, June 2 at Starmount High School. The rain date is June 9. The cost is $10 per athlete, and all money raised will go to the medical needs of Starmount student-athlete Christian Hurt, who suffered a serious neck injury in a football playoff game last November and is awaiting a special surgery.
The annual Cardinal Youth Basketball Camp will be held at East Wilkes High School on June 11-14. Sessions are open to boys in grades 3-8 (excludes rising high school freshmen) and will run from 8 a.m. until noon in the high school gym.

The second-annual Champion Skills Camp for basketball players will be held July 16-19 at Pilot Mountain Middle School. The four-day camp will be split into two sessions. The cost of the camp is $60 if paid by June 25 and $65 after June 25.
The 3rd Grade Surry Storm Black team won the YBOA state championship, held in Mount Airy this past weekend. The team finished the tournament undefeated.
The Carolina Power girls youth softball program will have tryouts for the 8U team on Saturday, April 21 from 9-10:30 a.m. at Lowes Park at Rivers Edge. All interested players should bring a copy of their birth certificate.
The Wilkes Diamonds 4th Grade-Under girls basketball team won the West Whirlies Tournament on March 17. The Diamonds won all three games for the day. The team also finished third out of 16 teams in the Mount Airy March Madness Tournament on March 3-4. They had 3 wins and 2 losses during that tournament. Surry Central High will host a softball clinic for youth players this Saturday, March 17. The skills camp will run from 9 a.m. until noon. The pitchers and catching session will run from 1-3 p.m.

Coaches are looking for dedicated players with a love for the sport and a desire to learn. Travel ball and pitching experience is a plus but not a must.

The Yadkin Valley Cyclones 10U boys basketball team finished with a 3-1 record and a runner-up finish in the Fort Chiswell (Va.) Super Bowl Jam this past weekend. The Cyclones were led by Luke Norman with 25 points, Austin Longworth with 20 points, and Maston Renegar with 18 points. Also scoring in double figures for the Cyclones were Tyler Mayes with 14, and Nick Harris with 10.
Starmount High’s softball program will hold its annual youth softball camp on Saturday, March 3. The sessions will run from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Starmount softball field. The cost is $25 per player, with a pizza lunch included.
